Pitch Up and Play | Wonderful Wedding Suppliers

Today we are so very excited to hear from Pitch Up and Play! We have had this in the pipeline for a little while and we can finally share it with you! It’s certainly one of my most favourite suppliers I have found while on this journey! Plus they are offering an amazing 10% discount for you lovely readers, all you need to do is let them know you heard about them through us and bob’s your uncle! Anyway photos…

Who are you and what do you do?

Hello! I’m Danielle and I own Pitch Up and Play, a bespoke childcare company for Weddings and Events. Growing up I was dubbed the Mary Poppins of the family and I have always adored children. I trained as a primary school teacher and as much as I loved working with children and seeing them develop, the workload and stress meant I couldn’t do all of the fun and creative things with them and I really missed that! So, I took the plunge and decided to set up my own childcare business. Whilst developing that over the course of two years I attended weddings of friends and family and realised that at times there were some seriously bored children who tended to act up due to lack of attention and being surrounded by lots of people they didn’t know very well and on top of that- having to be quiet! I found myself helping out a lot and noticed that when activities had been put on for the children, they were so much happier and there were less interruptions and everyone is so much more relaxed!

I noticed there was a gap in the market for a fresh take on plastic and dated mobile creches and that was when Pitch Up and Play was born! Our name links to our gorgeous bell tents that we love to pitch at Spring/Summer weddings. The children LOVE that they have their own special place that’s just for them to have bundles of fun in! The moment that they get shown into the tent and they see everything on offer their eyes light up and they dive straight in! That is such a great feeling.

We provide several services to the wedding industry such as Nannies, Evening Babysitters, Kids Tables, Activity Packs, Play Dens and Pop Up Creches. We cover Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire and parts of The Cotswolds. Our aim is for every booking to be like a party for the mini VIPs! This ensures the Bride & Groom can truly relax and it gives the grown-up guests an opportunity to really let their hair down knowing that their children are having just as much fun as them. We don’t just set up a mobile creche and leave them to it, we plan party games, shows, nature walks, I Spy camera tours, scavenger hunts, photo booth and fancy dress, DVD & popcorn nights, slumber parties and pretty much anything that guarantees real FUN! Also, you should see our goodie bags… they are unreal!
What really sets us apart is our staff. I only ever employ staff that are a minimum Level 3 trained in Childcare and/or Education. Most of them are Teachers or trainee Teachers so they are DBS checked, fully referenced, First Aid trained and experienced in childcare. It is important to my business that my staff are the highest quality you can find; quick thinkers, problem solvers, creative, bubbly, fun and safety is paramount to them.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding?

Weddings are the most fun and I love every part of the day and evening! I particularly like it when the styling matches the Bride and Groom personalities. It’s so nice to see little things that matches their character and their own personal style. After the ceremony when everyone has settled in is one of the best moments for me, it’s hard to get all of your friends and family in one place at the same time so there’s always a real magical feeling when everyone is chatting, laughing and enjoying some bubbles together. My favourite part of our wedding creches is when we do DVD & Popcorn Night. The children don’t take long to wind down after an action packed day with us! We all snuggle up with soft blankets, comfy cushions and beanbags and have a really good giggle!

What’s the best bit of advice you can give to couples in the planning process?

Well I’m still waiting for him to put a ring on it (nearly 6 years tut tut!) so I can’t really give any advice to help with the planning process but what I will say is that weddings are becoming more and more unique and undone these days, there’s no such thing as perfect so break some rules and listen to your own hearts! It always comes together in the end and it’s only ever about the two of you on the day. Of course, if you want some really good advice then that would be booking Wedding Childcare! We believe that our services give you and your guests the opportunity to truly relax, especially if you are the bride. Children absolutely make weddings (they’re so adorable all playing together in their little smart outfits) but there’s absolutely no need for your child to be having a meltdown, crying snot and crumbled rusk into your wedding dress! It’s a long old day for children and it can be such a snore-fest for them so booking a pop-up creche or a play den is without a doubt one of those things you will be so grateful you did. Our clients are always amazed when they see all the great things we have brought with us and hearing them go “WOW” when they walk in makes us feel as proud as punch!

What keeps you passionate?

Receiving reviews from our couples keeps us passionate! When you’re in the moment with all of the children you can be a little too focused on what is coming up next and making sure you stick to timings and that all the mini VIPs are having loads of fun. So when it’s all over you can barely remember what went on and I, like most business owners, can be my own harshest critic so it’s important to have a great team around you to keep you grounded and feeling positive.
Also, I get to be creative everyday and that really keeps me passionate. When the emails are piling up and the to-do list spans weeks I can always stop, make a cup of tea and play around with a tassel garland or a pompom hairband for an hour or two! The wedding industry is so inspiring and much less traditional than I expected and that makes everyday different and exciting.

Do you like to keep up with trends? What’s your biggest trend to watch currently?

I think sometimes people see the word ‘trends’ as a bit of a dirty word but if that’s what couples like and are inspired by (you’ll find me attempting flares at least once every year and I definitely had a unicorn cake for my birthday!) then why not roll with it? Our style is very boho, rustic and vintage but I’ll be the first to throw metallics or jewel tones in the mix because I see it and I like it! This style is currently ‘on trend’ and when it’s not we will stay true to our identity but we will definitely adapt to what our clients love and want at their wedding because customer service and satisfaction is extremely important to us. In terms of trends for brides and grooms I adore barn/field festival style weddings where the bride is in a floaty boho number and the groom in tweed or navy blue. I recently read a blog about a couple who had their wedding right out in the sticks and their guests manned the bar on a rota! I loved this idea.

What’s next for your business?

We are buying more bell tents so that when we can duplicate bookings or set up outdoor Play Dens at weddings who do not require the childcare but really need a space for their mini VIPs to play and hang out. They also make a great space for disco naps, baby changing and feeding and these start from £200. We have just started setting up Play Dens and entertainment at children’s birthday parties and these are going down a storm, we particularly love creating a themed party such as Superheroes or Under the Sea! We are now researching fetes and festivals where we can take our bell tent play dens so that parents can drop off their children for a few hours whilst they enjoy some grown up time. In terms of weddings, we are going to see how our first proper Spring/Summer goes… but judging by the diary I think it’s going to be a brilliant wedding season, I’m squealing with excitement already!

How do we book/use your services?

You can send an enquiry through our website or email us below. We get back to you within a day and if you leave a telephone number we will call you for a chat and hear all about your requirements. We are BIG on customer service and being completely bespoke to suit our clients, this has been mentioned again and again in our testimonials so we must be doing something right!

Nelly’s Bar | Wonderful Wedding Suppliers

On this week’s wonderful wedding suppliers we hear from Nelly’s Bar, a cute mobile bar. We think Nelly’s Bar is perfectly on trend for any event, we love the way they combine bunting, industrial colours and a wooden bar to create something you just have to have!

Who are you and what do you do?

We are Nelly’s Bar, a lovingly restored and refurbished horse box trailer operating as a general bar serving a range of refreshments including real ales from Retford’s award-winning Pheasantry Brewery, including the refreshing blond Beer, Dancing Dragonfly, and CAMRA’s GOLD winner of 2015, Best Bitter. In addition we serve a range of Nelly’s-themed cocktails, such as ‘Fifty Shades of Neigh’, ‘The Bloody Mare’, and ‘Desert Orchid’. We also provide cider, lager, and a host of soft drinks for our other customers. We operate at festivals, events and corporate functions, but our passion is supporting weddings and anniversary celebrations, where the Nelly’s platform offers the happy couple a unique experience in support of their big day. We are a family-run business situated in the East Midlands, but operating across the Notts, Derbyshire, Lincs and Norfolk regions. We pride ourselves on the very best of ingredients, at a fair price, all served with a smile from one of the most unusual and unique platforms out there.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding?

Our favourite part of a wedding is when the ceremony has taken place and the happy couple approach Nelly”s for their first drink. It’s a special thing to witness people at one of their most happiest times in their lives. Watching the successful culmination of months of meticulous planning and close liaison with the couple, the venue and other suppliers is hugely rewarding.

What’s the best bit of advice you can give to couples in the planning process?

Don’t lose fact that this is YOUR special day. Stamp your mark on the event and make it individual to you; don’t be afraid to ask suppliers for what you really want.

What keeps you passionate?

We remain passionate about providing an excellent service in keeping with their dreams and desires. We are a hugely motivated team, and feedback allows us to stay passionate about what we do and continue to offer an excellent service. If you are happy then so are we.

Do you like to keep up with trends? What’s your biggest trend to watch currently?

We regularly refresh our drinks menu and presentation of our beverages to fit with what’s current on the market but we also like to add our own Nelly’s twist to remain unique. Our most recent finds are an amazing little Gin not available on the high street (look out for this at our next event), and the use of manuka honey in some of our cocktails, described as a wonder food by Marie Claire recently.

What’s next for your business?

We have a number of confirmed wedding bookings this year, so our focus is on ensuring that we deliver a perfect service and continue to build our reputation. We also plan to expand the services we offer to include the hire of other items such as vintage chalkboards on easels, sweet carts, vintage photo booths and other additions to ensure the day is special.

How do we book/use your services?

We love to discuss your individual needs face to face or over the phone but in the first instance you can contact us via Facebook, through our website, email, or Twitter; @NellysBar.

10 Worries Every Bride-to-be Has & How To Avoid Them | Kayleigh Adams Photography | Guest Post

Today we have a guest post by the wonderful Kayleigh of Kayleigh Adams Photography, Kayleigh and I met at a wedding I was attending and she was photographing. Being in the industry I am always on the lookout and loved her way of working with the guests. I told her about the blog and here we are today! Hopefully this is her first of more posts guest posts on LTW! Anyway enough rambling lets read!

If you’re a bride-to-be, I can almost guarantee that you’ve got a lot of ideas, things to do and you probably have a million and one lists. Am I right? Hopefully you’ve got everything under control and the wedding plans are taking shape.

I’m Kayleigh Adams, a professional wedding photographer from The Cotswolds, and in my job I meet lots of fabulous brides, each with their own way of doing things and own unique spin on their weddings. Meeting so many brides means that I am aware of some of the things that they worry about and from my experience, I have detailed advice, solutions and preventatives that you can apply to banish those worries for the big day ahead!

1. I’m worried about running out of time on the morning of the wedding.

What happens if your alarm goes off too late? What happens if you can’t get your hair and make-up done in time? What happens if the wedding car breaks down and you have to walk to your wedding? What happens if you’re over-reacting?! The more likely problem you’re going to face is not being able to sleep before your wedding day! You’ll be far too excited to have time to sleep, but do make sure you get a couple of hours in at least so you’re not ready for bed when the party gets started. Also make sure that you have everything you’re going to possibly need, along with spares of everything!

2. Will it will rain on my wedding day?

This is one of the most common worries that I come across with my brides. If it rains, it rains. Is it going to completely ruin your wedding day or is it going to mean less? I’m pretty sure the answer is NO, so my advice if it the weather isn’t 100% cooperative – just embrace it! Why not consider buying some umbrellas, or having some colourful wellies on hand? This way we can head outside and get some great ‘rainy day’ shots. This has happened to me so many times, and I can assure you, my couples always love their rainy day pictures!

3. Will my wedding dress fit on the day?

If you’ve bought your dress from a bridal boutique, you probably will have had several fitting appointments where a dedicated professional has altered your dress so that it fits you like a glove. Make sure you tell them exactly how the dress feels and mention if anything feels loose, tight or anything else. The more specific you can be here means that on the wedding day the dress will fit perfectly. Also, when you go for your fitting, it’s a good idea to take the underwear that you’re planning on wearing on the day so you can make sure the bust etc fits perfectly.

4. Will my hair and make up look OK on the day?

I can’t stress this enough; make sure you have trials before the wedding! The majority of brides I work with have hair and make up trials prior to the wedding. This in my opinion is SO important, as it means you can be as picky and particular as you like without the pressure of it being the actual wedding day. If you think the make up is too dark, tell your make up artist and see if they can adjust it for you (just bear in mind that for your photographs the make up might have to be slightly heavier for it to show in images). Many professional hair and make up artists will take photographs and make notes of exactly what products and style you are happy with, so when it comes to the wedding day they can simply follow their notes. Also remember that your hair and make up needs to last all day, so I would advise booking in your trials perhaps on the day on your hen party, or ‘date night’ with the other half. This way you can check everything stays in place and that you are comfortable.

5. If I’m going to be able to use the bathroom on my wedding day in my wedding dress?!

This should definitely be a consideration when you choose your wedding dress in the first place. Your wedding day is going to be a long day, and you will be on your feet for a lot of it. Friends and family will want to buy you drinks so when you’re choosing your dress you need to ensure that you are comfortable and that you can move around in it. When it comes to using the bathroom, enlist your bridesmaids to help. Many venues will allow you to use a bathroom that is a little more private, which is ideal for the bride (there are many blogs and posts online that give you ‘advice’ of the best way to use the toilet in your wedding dress – take a look)!

6. Will everything be perfect on the actual day?

This is another question I get asked time and time again. My answer is always the same; if something isn’t exactly perfect (eg, the table plan is slightly too far to the right) is anyone other than you going to notice? I can almost guarantee that the answer is no. The guests at your wedding are there to celebrate your marriage and enjoy the day with you both. You need to remember that the most important thing on the day is you as a couple.

7. What am I going to do with my wedding dress after the big day?

It’s unlikely you’re going to wear it again, unless you decide to dress up on every anniversary of your wedding! If you have children, why not have it made into a dressing up dress? Or consider having the dress professionally cleaned and then display it in a deep box frame? Otherwise, if you can bear to part with it, try advertising it online and see if you can sell it. Lots of people look for pre-loved wedding dresses online, especially when they can see images of the dress being worn to see how it looks on a body.

8. The flowers from my wedding are too beautiful (and cost too much!) to put in the bin.

A lot of my brides like to keep their flowers in the house for as long as they can. Not only will it remind you of your big day, but it will make the house/room smell amazing! Have a look online for ways of preserving your flowers – you could dry them out, press them or even send them away to have made into a work of art.

9. There’s so much wedding cake left over! What should I do with it!?

If you’ve got wedding cake left over from the day before, why not ask the venue to cut it up (if they haven’t already), put it in some tupperware for you and take it home. You can have cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the rest of the week (ideal right!?), or why not invite family/friends over to enjoy a piece with you. Of course, there’s the old tradition of keeping the top tier for the christening of your first-born child, but how many people actually do that these days?

Kayleigh Adams Photography - Little Tree Weddings - LTW (2)

10. Will I be really sad when it’s all over?

Inevitably you’re going to feel a little sad when it’s all over, mainly due to the sheer amount of time and effort you have put into making your wedding day perfect. The day after your wedding you will probably be exhausted, so my advice is to spend the day after basking in the joy of everything that your day was. If you can, spend the day after with your new husband/wife, your families and enjoy opening the lovely cards and gifts that your guests so kindly gave you. After each wedding I photograph, I try to get a few ‘sneak peek’ photos up on my Facebook page for you to enjoy too. Obviously if you’ve got a honeymoon planned straight after the wedding, you’ve got nothing to be sad about – really make the most of your time away!

Ever After Events | Wonderful Wedding Suppliers

Today we hear from Ever After Events! We, as wedding planners ourselves, know how important it is to find the right planner. We would also strongly recommend, if you can afford a planner, book one! You gain experience, advice and contacts that are invaluable in the planning process and ultimately can save you money in the long run! Let’s kick off as usual with some photos…

Who are you and what do you do?

Ever After is founded by a sisterly duo, with a passion for transforming weddings and events alike. Specialising in bespoke services to create celebrations that excite, we pride ourselves on delivering beautiful styling, stunning floral design and hand-picked finishing touches to make your day truly unique.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding?

Our favourite part of a wedding is the little moments before the main event. We visit the bride to deliver the bridal party bouquets and the atmosphere is contagious with a wonderful combination of nerves, happiness and curiosity. We love meeting family members who gaze admirably at their loved ones and the friends whom share the excitement as their best friend is about to embark on their biggest adventure yet.

What’s the best bit of advice you can give to couples in the planning process?

Our best advice is to engage with wedding suppliers that you like. Personality is important, particularly when planning your special day, so recruit people that understand you, your wishes and your woes. It’ll make the whole planning experience more enjoyable and you’ll feel much more relaxed on the day.

What keeps you passionate?

We love meeting new couples and sharing new ideas – it’s these nuggets of loveliness that inspire us. Combine this with receiving wonderful feedback, it’s hard not to love what we do!

Do you like to keep up with trends?

We love seeing new trends emerge and how they evolve over time. Our favourite trend at the moment is the geometric style, with floral filled terrariums and lots of greenery. This trend looks gorgeous by day, but by night, candlelight dances off the angled glass shapes and creates another level of magic.

What’s next for your business?

We’re hoping to offer an internship programme to give people with a passion for parties the opportunity to work with us and progress their own personal and professional development.

How do we book/use your services?

Simply contact us via our website and we’d be delighted to welcome you to our creative studio for a complimentary consultation and a glass of champagne of course!

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Rob a Wedding Photographer living between Nottingham, UK and Frankfurt, Germany. I photograph people in love – all over the world. I also shoot weddings with my partner Alisha who lives in Germany and we love to travel around Europe capturing people in love.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding?

Each part of the day has its own uniqueness, each brings its own joy, love and thats all I care about.. capturing the love of two people on their wedding day is my favourite part.

What’s the best bit of advice you can give to couples in the planning process?

Remember this is your day, I see so many weddings where people try to please their guests instead of themselves.. and also you only get one chance on your wedding day, you book a photographer to capture those moments, so down waste time and listen to your photographer and make time for photos. They are your record of the day forever and for future generations to look back on. So don’t waste time.

Do you like to keep up with trends? What’s your biggest trend to watch currently?

Each wedding is unique, each wedding is planned and thought about with their own style/trend.. So no matter what, I follow my couples ideas.. as for trends in photography, well things come and go as we learn.. I like to watch and learn and try new ideas in order to help my couples have a timeless collection of images to look back on.

Two Falling Stars | Wonderful Wedding Suppliers

This week on Wonderful Wedding Suppliers we hear from Two Falling Stars, so many people are opting out of the traditional hotel and church wedding it’s great to see a selection of independent celebrants on offer across the country!

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Awen and I run Two Falling Stars. I am an independent celebrant and create bespoke ceremonies for weddings and handfastings, namings and family blessings and I also do funerals.  I like to work with people who want to bring individuality and a little magic to their life celebrations. I’m happy to lead a ceremony pretty much anywhere, the only limit is your imagination.

What’s your favourite part of a wedding?

Probably when I give the final blessing in the wedding ceremony, all the preparation, all the nerves have built up to that. We’ve gotten through all the formal pieces of the ceremony, and its the bit where I get to confirm they are married and wish them well. It’s always quite emotional, seeing two people look each other in the eye knowing they are married is a special moment.

What’s the best bit of advice you can give to couples in the planning process?

Go for what you want, not what everyone else thinks! This is your special day and you don’t want to look back in years to come and wish you had done something differently. Let it be a day that reflects you and your partner, not your mum or grandma!

What keeps you passionate?

I love to celebrate life! There is always something to celebrate and in fact I think we should celebrate more moments and rites of passage than perhaps we do.

Do you follow wedding trends?

I’m not really into trends, I love to read all the blogs and magazines and see what’s going on but I think everyone is unique.  If you want a trendy wedding have one, but if you don’t then don’t! Don’t do it just because it’s trendy, do it because it fits who you are.

What’s next for your business?

I want to see Two Falling Stars grow and work with as many quirky and magical people as the diary and life will allow! I’m also looking to expand into wedding and events planning in the next twelve months.

Awen has some really great advice for everyone here, if you want get in contact head over to www.twofallingstars.com. Dont forget to follow her on twitter @twofallingstars, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
Make sure you follow us on twitter too for our latest updates or sign up to our new mailing list!
